Classroom Rules
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian,
I am looking forward to an exciting year with your child. Art 2 will provide a strong emphasis on studio experiences, along with exposure to art history and criticism.
I can be contacted at [email protected] or (901) 867-1541.
Sincerely,
Melanie Anderson
Assignments and Grading:
The majority of the work for Art 2 will be done in class. Students will receive a participation grade each grading period (see paragraph below). Project progress and a final grade will be given for major pieces produced in class. There will be an exam project at the end of each semester. All grades will be weighted equally. Arlington High will use Power School, the online grade book, where parents can view their child’s progress at any time.
Participation:
Participation is essential in a studio class. A student cannot learn technical skills, gain experience, or benefit from teacher advice if he/she is not working. Each grading period, every student is given a 100 for his/her participation grade. To keep this 100, the student should come to class prepared, work on the assignment at hand, and clean up as necessary. Ten points will be deducted for every day a student is off task or being unprepared.
Deadlines:
A deadline is just that - a deadline. All work is due on the assigned date. Late work will receive 50% credit. Any work more than five days late will not be accepted. No exceptions. If absent, it is the student’s responsibility to turn in missing assignments.
CLASSROOM RULES
1. Show respect for others and their property.
2. Be in assigned seat when the tardy bell rings.
3. Use art supplies appropriately.
4. Actively participate.
5. No eating, drinking, candy or gum in the classroom!!!
There is a $45 supply fee for all Art II students. This fee covers all of the art supplies needed for the school year. By buying in bulk we can purchase supplies at a considerable discount saving you money and shopping. Students have two weeks to take care of the fee – If paying by check, please make it out to Arlington High School.
The art department is aware of the financial demands on a family during this time of year. Please let me know if you are having financial difficulties and we can make arrangement for payment in installments.
